The lesson of the Crowd, the Twelve and the Three is ultimately a lesson about love, wisdom, trust and discernment. Jesus showed us that relationships have levels. The crowd was valuable. The twelve were valuable. The three were valuable. But they did not have the same access. Everybody can be loved, but everybody cannot be equally trusted. Love everybody. Serve people. Influence people. Walk with the right people. Guard your heart. Build trustworthy friendships. Become the kind of person others can safely trust. Your life does not need more people simply for the sake of having more people. You need the right people in the right places. The crowd may know your ministry. The twelve may know your journey. But the three know your heart. And perhaps the most important question is not simply, “Who are the three people I have in my life?” It is, “Am I becoming the kind of person someone else can safely call one of their three?” You don't need everybody to know you. You need the right people to know the real you.
