1. Copyright Ownership

Authors publishing in Boldscholar journals retain full copyright of their work.

Boldscholar does not require transfer of copyright. Instead, authors grant the publisher a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the work.

2. License to Publish

By submitting and accepting publication, authors grant Boldscholar a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable license to:

• Publish, reproduce, and distribute the article
• Make the article publicly available online
• Archive and preserve the article
• Identify itself as the original publisher

This license ensures dissemination while preserving author ownership.

3. Open Access Licensing 

All articles in Open Access journals on Boldscholar are published under a Creative Commons license, clearly displayed on each article.

3.1 Default License

3.2 Alternative License (where justified)

• Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial (CC BY-NC)

4. Rights Granted to Users

Under the applicable Creative Commons license, users are free to:

• Read, download, and share the article
• Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
• Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the work

5. Conditions for Reuse

Users must:

• Provide appropriate attribution to the author(s)
• Include the article title and source (journal name and Boldscholar)
• Provide a link to the applicable license
• Indicate if changes were made

6. Commercial Use

• Articles published under CC BY may be used for commercial purposes with proper attribution
• Articles published under CC BY-NC may not be used for commercial purposes without additional permission from the copyright holder

7. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

• Share and deposit their published article in institutional or subject repositories
• Use the article in teaching, presentations, and future works
• Distribute the article freely in any medium
• Grant additional permissions consistent with the Creative Commons license

8. Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

• Any third-party content included in the article is properly licensed or used with permission
• Such materials are clearly identified
• Any restrictions on reuse are disclosed within the article

9. No Embargo Policy

• All Open Access articles are made immediately available upon publication
• No embargo period applies

10. Archiving and Preservation

Boldscholar ensures long-term preservation of journal content through:

• DOI registration (via Crossref)
• Digital archiving systems
• Integration with repositories and indexing services

11. Legal Deposit to the National Library of Nigeria

Electronic copies of journals uploaded on Boldscholar:

• Shall constitute legal deposits to the National Library of Nigeria
• Shall be made accessible, at no cost, within designated National Library of Nigeria reading centres

12. Transparency and Compliance

Boldscholar journals commit to:

• Clearly displaying copyright and licensing information on all articles
• Providing machine-readable license metadata
• Maintaining compliance with international Open Access standards

13. Policy Availability

This Copyright & Licensing Policy is:

• Publicly accessible on the journal website
• Linked on all article pages
• Available to authors prior to submission
