This book is a product of certain considerations. The first is that as a student/researcher it was difficult getting materials on issues discussed in this book. I also met colleagues and other individuals who wished to have researched in these areas but were discouraged by lack of materials, especially on disabilities. Secondly, after visiting most organizations and elderly homes in Rivers State, I discovered that these categories of persons needed someone to speak out for them to ease their sufferings, and this can only be done by putting it into writing as a guide for policy-makers and public use. This book has been written with the public in mind. The primary aims are to expose to the public major issues they need to know about these most vulnerable social groups in the society and proffer solutions on how they can be integrated into the society they belong. The book is made up of fifteen chapters and each chapter begins with a brief introduction of its contents. It is envisaged that after going through this book, government functionaries, academics especially sociologists, gerontologists, geriatricians, HRM in organizations, individual, will appreciate what it means to be human irrespective of the physical, emotional, economic, biological, physiological, psychological and other inherent characteristics of human being. Remember like the foreword states nobody can escape being aged or disabled.
