THE JUDGE'S SYSTEM

Tab Article

In this world, being innocent isn’t enough. You have to prove it. Justice belongs to a single Judge. No jury. No appeal. No mercy. When an accusation is made, the courtroom emerges—and the Judge decides guilt not by absolute truth, but by what can be witnessed, argued, and inferred. Control the evidence. Control the verdict. Control reality. Few understand that system better than Sonnet. Once notorious for lending his extraordinary skills to criminals, Sonnet built a reputation on doing the impossible: walking into courtrooms and winning. Again. And again. Until Amara, Director of the Public Safety Preservation Council, became the exception. Now his sentence is over, and the very organization that once imprisoned him needs his help. Because Sean is moving again. A notorious criminal who has repeatedly slipped through the hands of justice, Sean has spent years turning the rules of the system against those sworn to uphold them. And when his next move brings him directly to the Council’s doorstep, Sonnet realizes something unsettling: Catching Sean was never going to be a matter of proving what he did. It means understanding why he wants to be caught at all. As Sonnet joins Amara, one case becomes another. Crimes appear, accusations fly, and mysteries seem to end as quickly as they begin. Yet beneath the apparent victories and neatly resolved cases, someone is arranging the pieces of a much larger game. And Sonnet may be the only person who can see the board. The problem? He might be playing his own game too. In a world where deception is power, morality is negotiable, and truth exists only by inference, justice has one fatal weakness: The Judge can only rule on what it believes happened. And someone intends to exploit that.
