Husayn Zaguru, born Hussain Zaguru AbdulQadir, is a multidisciplinary creative and social impact advocate whose work spans media, the arts, development communication, and entrepreneurship. He wears many hats, singer-songwriter, actor, poet, filmmaker, mindset coach, writer, digital creator, and Communication for Development (Comm4Dev) consultant, all unified by a central mission: to inspire social change and bridge cultures through storytelling, creativity, and capacity building.
Armed with a B.Sc. in Geology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Communications from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, he blends scientific discipline with artistic expression to position himself as a transformational force in both the creative and humanitarian sectors. His journey reflects a deep passion for youth empowerment, social advocacy, and intercultural dialogue, demonstrated through his leadership roles as CEO of Zaguruville Empire Concepts Ltd and Director of Club Service/Project Chair at the Rotary Club of Abuja Wuse II. He is also a Positive Peace Advocate and a member of the Rotary Action Group for Peace, Nigeria Chapter, as well as a fellow of the Dr. Linus Okorie MFR GOTNI Fellowship, Class of 2025.
As a Rotarian and former Nigeria Chapter Lead for the U.S.-based GivingTuesday Spark initiative, Husayn has mobilized over $2,000 for the Rotary Foundation in collaboration with the Rotary Action Group for Peace. Notably, he became the first Black Nigerian to receive the GivingTuesday Starling Collective Fellowship. His track record includes securing major grants, most prominently over $100,000 from the YouWiN! initiative, and participating in high-impact programs like Project ACT Nollywood alongside leading filmmakers.
A dynamic public speaker, filmmaker, and performing artist, Husayn has spoken, written, directed, and featured in several notable projects, including the film 2 Nights, 2 Days and the stage production Tafawa Balewa: The Golden Voice of Africa. Whether creating music, facilitating workshops, or developing media campaigns for organizations such as UNICEF, EU-WATSAN, and GIWAC, he is driven by a deep commitment to using storytelling as a tool for healing, education, and societal transformation.
At the heart of his work is a desire to give voice to the unheard, tell meaningful African and global stories, and empower the next generation of changemakers through art, technology, and community development. He currently serves as the Administrative/Resident Manager of the ANA Ken Saro-Wiwa International Writers’ Residency.
