Abstract
This paper explored the information needs and library satisfaction of postgraduate students in Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. Questionnaires were given to 200 postgraduate students in the Departments of Economics and Accounting with descriptive ex post facto design; 180 respondents replied and 180 forms were validated. The study identified sources of nformation that postgraduate students need, information seeking purposes, satisfaction with collections, services and facilities. Results indicate high adequacy of textbooks (94.4%), theses/dissertation (88.9%), periodicals (72.2%), and reading space (88.0%), and high satisfaction with reference (88.9%), and circulation (83.3%) services. Reduced satisfaction was recorded on reprographic services (50.0%), interlibrary loan (55.6%), internet/email access (61.5%) and lighting (55.6%). The dominant method of discovery was browsing shelves (88.9). The research concludes that EKSU library is doing well in terms of physical collections and staff assistance but is vulnerable due to the inefficiency of ICT and other infrastructures and prescribes specific investment in electronic access, reprographic support and user training, and infrastructure enhancements.
