Abstract
In an increasingly competitive and rapidly changing global environment, individuals and organizations must adopt strategies that enable them to maintain relevance and sustain competitive advantage. This paper examines strategic foresight as a critical capability for anticipating change, exploring alternative futures, and positioning organizations to achieve long-term success. Drawing on Dynamic Capabilities Theory as the theoretical framework, the study explains how organizations can develop the abilities to sense emerging opportunities and threats, seize strategic opportunities, and reconfigure resources in response to evolving environments. Through conceptual analysis and two illustrative case studies—Kodak and IBM—the paper demonstrates how foresight practices influence organizational resilience, adaptability, and sustained competitiveness. The findings highlight that organizations that systematically integrate foresight into strategic planning are better positioned to anticipate disruptive change, develop contingency plans, and shape preferred futures. The study concludes that adopting foresight methodologies can significantly enhance strategic decision-making and long-term organizational success in dynamic and uncertain environments.
