Igbo Word Processing Software: A Veritable Tool for National Security, Stability and Nation Building

Abstract

The study sought to find the effect of Igbo word processing software on national security, stability and nation building. Three research questions guided the study. Two hundred respondents were drawn by simple random sampling from five Igbo speaking states of South Eastern Nigeria. Data were collected using a 15 item (grouped of fives each) researcher formulated structured questionnaire. The Cronbach alpha was used to establish the reliability coefficient (r). This was found out to be 0.71. data was analyzed using mean and chi-square. Results showed amongst others that there are significant effects of having Igbo word processing software in national security and nation building, and that government has a role to play in using Igbo word software for national security, stability and national building. It was recommended that local word processing software should be used in dissemination of security issues as this would aid faster assimilation and response. Besides, there should be adequate funding of research for innovation in language development.
