Abstract
The study focused on the role of artificial intelligence in managing educational resources in public secondary schools in Ebonyi state. Two research questions guided the study, while two null hypotheses were formulated for the study. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The population for the study comprised of all the 228 principals in public secondary schools in Ebonyi state. There was no sampling because the principals’ population is manageable. The researchers’ developed questionnaire titled “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Managing Educational Resources Questionnaire (RAIMERQ)” was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha was used to establish the reliability coefficient of the instrument at 0.88. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation, while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed among others that: (1) Artificial Intelligence can help administrators optimize the allocation of resources, such as staff, classrooms, and materials (2) Educational resources can be managed by principals to ensure smooth running of public secondary in Ebonyi State. It was recommended among others that: (1) The State government, through the relevant agencies and boards, should periodically organize capacity building workshops for school principals, teachers and other educational administrators to enable them acquire the necessary knowledge and skills required for the deployment and use of AI facilities in schools. (2) The State government, through the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), should integrate and make compulsory the study and use of AI in the secondary school curriculum.
