Abstract
This article appraises the Sokoto State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2019 (Sokoto State ACJL 2019) vis a vis the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 (ACJA, 2015) and by so doing bring out their relative strength and weaknesses while proffering recommendations. The need to ensure an effective Criminal Justice System led to the enactment of ACJA 2015 which is an Act of the National Assembly with options for state to domesticate the parent legislation. Sokoto State is one of States in Nigeria that has domesticated the ACJA 2015 through the signing into law of the Sokoto State ACJL 2019 to take care of the problems of incessant delay in the criminal justice system. This article uses the doctrinal research methodology in gathering information’s and highlights on key areas of divergence and convergence between the two legislation and observes that the areas of convergence between the two legislation are more. The article concluded that a crime free society is a prosperous society where economic and social development is assured and recommended that all stakeholders and every Nigerian must embrace and work assiduously towards the realization of the objectives of the Federal and State Laws
