This study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population for this study consists of thirty-nine (39) librarians in university libraries in Rivers State. A census sampling technique was used to capture the entire population. The primary instrument for data collection was online structured questionnaire. The online questionnaire was designed using a Likert scale. The online questionnaire was distributed to the WhatsApp platforms of librarians in Rivers State which recorded a response of 28. The data collected from the online questionnaire was analyzed using mean score. It was discovered that librarians in university libraries in Rivers State have better access to general and multidisciplinary databases such as JSTOR, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, HINARI, and AGORA but limited access to subject-specific or high-cost databases such as Emerald Insight, ScienceDirect, LISA, and ERIC. Librarians in university libraries in Rivers State utilize databases such as JSTOR, EBSCOhost, and ProQuest to a high extent but databases like HINARI, AGORA, LISA, Scopus, and ERIC were utilized to a low extent. Challenges that hinder their utilization of subscribed databases included poor internet connectivity, erratic power supply, inadequate infrastructure, and the complexity of navigating some databases all of which were agreed upon by respondents as significant barriers but unavailability of relevant information resources, lack of computer literacy, lack of awareness and difficulties in reading from screens were not considered major challenges
