Creating awareness is the prerequisite for recognition and growth of any organization, product or service. What interplays in the mind of most people today is the traditional library picture where you find old dusty books and outdated newspapers at the library. The invention of new technology in librarianship which includes audio visual resources and technology ought to influence the library use, but unfortunately, most community of users are not aware. Audio visual resources is a paramount-tool in marketing and promoting the library and its services as it can help to motivate users and also heighten the recognition of librarians. This paper therefore, provides a comprehensive overview on how visual resource availability and utilization can promote library and information services, create awareness of the library and recognition of librarians, is relevance in modern libraries and recommendations to enhance audio visual resources acquisition and utilization. This paper concludes by advocating that libraries and librarians should advance in marketing and promotion of libraries and information services through the use of audio visual resources.
