The study examined institutional repository: a strategy for enhancing networked Information or university library services. It introduced the concept of university libraries and institutional repositories, the requirement for setting up institutional repositories, institutional repositories and networked information, the perceptions of staff on the adoption of institutional repositories and awareness of institutional repositories. It also highlighted the factors influencing the adoption of institutional repositories and the challenges in the adoption and utilization of Institutional Repository it showed that institutional repository is a viable tool to collaborate and share resources in the (environment as well as project the university community contents. It was concluded that despite its importance most universities in Nigeria have yet to adopt Institutional repositories. It, therefore recommended the university management provide adequate funding for the setting up and management of institutional repositories.
