Evaluating the Effectiveness of Digital Technologies in Optimizing Stevedoring Operations: A Case Study of West Africa Container Terminal (WACT), Onne Rivers State

Digital technologies have become an integral part of container port operations all around the world. The West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) has employed a number of digital technologies to improve stevedoring operations, which involve loading and unloading cargo from vessels. The purpose of this research is to assess the effectiveness of these digital technologies in optimizing stevedoring operations at the West Africa Container Terminal. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, which included a survey of WACT staff, observations of terminal operations, and operational data analysis. According to the findings, digital technologies have greatly improved the productivity and effectiveness of stevedoring operations at WACT. The three digital technologies that were found to be most efficient were the automated gate system, terminal operating system, and global positioning system. In order to further enhance stevedoring operations, the report recommends West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) continuously invest in digital technologies and explore new ones.
