This study looked into how AI-powered virtual librarians can enhance information access and user satisfaction of the digital libraries in federal universities in Nigeria. The main goals were to identify the advantages of these virtual librarians, evaluate their impact on user experience and engagement, and explore what this means for library staff and operations in federal university libraries across Nigeria. To gather data, an online survey was conducted using Google Forms and SurveyMonkey, reaching out to 150 digital library users and librarians. The survey collected demographic details, usage habits, familiarity with AI virtual librarians, perceived benefits and challenges, as well as overall service satisfaction. The findings showed that AI-powered virtual librarians significantly boost user experience by making it easier to use, improving search accuracy, and personalizing the information search process. The study concluded that implementing these virtual librarians can streamline library services, enhance efficiency, and allow human librarians to concentrate on more complex tasks. It was determined that AI-powered virtual librarians provide considerable benefits in terms of information accessibility, service quality, and operational efficiency. They can elevate user experience, improve search accuracy, and free up library staff for more intricate responsibilities. Based on these insights, it is recommended that libraries consider adopting AI-powered virtual librarians to enhance user experience, boost operational efficiency, and gain better data-driven insights. This approach will help libraries improve service accessibility and personalization, increase efficiency, enhance data analysis, reduce labour costs, offer innovative services, and remain competitive in the digital landscape.
