Leveraging artificial intelligence for automated records management practice in academic libraries

This paper examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in records management practice within academic libraries, focusing on how AI enhances operational efficiency, improves service delivery, and personalizes user experiences. The research is based on a review of existing literature and case studies of academic libraries that have implemented AI-driven tools for records management practice.  It explores the benefits, challenges, and future trends associated with AI adoption in these settings. The study discovered that AI significantly improves records management practice by automating tasks such as cataloguing, classification, and information retrieval, resulting in enhanced accuracy and reduced human error. However, challenges like ethical considerations, technical infrastructure, and staff training remain obstacles to seamless AI integration. This paper contributes to the growing body of research on AI in academic libraries by offering practical insights into its application in records management. It highlights both the potential benefits and the complexities involved in its implementation.
