The outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic has a nostalgic implication on education and methods of searching. This ushered in an online teaching method also known as e-learning, which was found to be suitable and more convenient in reducing Covid-19 negative impact on education method of delivery. This new normal introduced and necessitates faculty members’ upgrade in skills and competencies to be able to carry out online teaching activities with ease. Faculty who are trained and supported as professionals for online teaching are likely to understand and deliver online models effectively. This study adopted a survey design with a population pope of 51 faculty members of Library and Information Science departments from MOUAU and IMSU. Twenty-one (21) item rating scale questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents while mean scores and simple percentages were used to analyze the collected data. Findings revealed that these skills and competencies required for effective online education delivery can be accessed through workshops, seminars, penal discussion, mini-courses, directed publications and teleconferences. Faculty disinterest in professional development online teaching is identified among others as a major challenge for faculty professional development Recommendations were made by the researchers.
