Information is a very vital resource required by all for the success of whatever we do. In Nigeria's tertiary institutions community, students form a major category of information users to accomplish the tasks of learning and research. This study examines the use of reference sources and services by undergraduate students in Nigeria's academic libraries. A survey design of the ex-post-facto was adopted in the study. The questionnaire was the major instrument used for the collection of data for this study. The population of the study was 280 undergraduate students involved all seven schools of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt, Rivers State Descriptive statistics was used in analyzing the data collected and the results indicated that the use of reference sources and services led to better and effective academic development, however, the ill attitude of library staff leads to most undergraduate students not being aware of the usefulness of reference services Based on the findings, the researchers made useful recommendations
